Spring is here and awakens in us the desire to redesign our home and bring fresh momentum into the flat with modern design elements. In the past year, the opportunity was taken to sort out and create order. In 2022, we are considering how our own four walls can become a place of well-being that acts as a cosy retreat and a source of inspiration at the same time. One decoration trend to fulfil this desire is the use of round design elements that bring cosiness and harmony into the room and express the desire for security and comfort.
Our designers can also empathise with this need and are constantly creating new porcelains that correspond to current life situations. A unique product designer in our house is Zhuoyu Hou. Her focus and passion is to perpetuate organic forms in porcelain. In doing so, she is constantly inspired by nature, which influenced her from an early age. Zhuoyu Hou grew up in a small village in China, where the biodiverse nature, the everyday utensils made of handmade natural materials such as bamboo, wood or clay determined life. Her dexterity and her artistic talent were thus laid in her cradle. To this day, the greatest thing for her is to depict the beauty of nature with all its facets in soft clay. With these first clay designs, Zhuoyu Hou is able to trace, reflect, pause and also - through conversations with other MEISSEN artists - shape the creations into beautiful porcelains that offer the viewer a practical use and at the same time a source of inspiration.
"It is the diversity of life that is artfully reflected in beautiful porcelains and becomes a source of energy for the viewer."
Make your home a place of well-being where you can retreat, relax and recharge your batteries.
Inspired by a vortex, as in snail shells, twisted shells or rose petals that slowly open, Zhuoyu Hou developed the new "Twist" series of boxes, adding a new design language to the manufactory's repertoire. She chose the geometric cylinder shape as the basic form and brought it to life with symmetrically divided curved surfaces. The curved lines that divide the surfaces glide gently downwards from the centre like a vortex. What is special about this is that when the viewer looks at the organically shaped box from above, they will recognise the Snowball Blossom so typical of MEISSEN.
These wonderful twisted boxes are a unique interior piece that fits harmoniously into any room of your home. Whether in the bathroom as a decorative jewellery box or as a vessel on the living room table that holds little sweet surprises. The "Twist" boxes work as single objects or in different sizes and shapes next to each other and convey a cosy feeling of security. On their own or in a mix & match with other porcelains such as Vide-Poches, figurines or vases, they enrich any interior. Their soft curves set creative new impulses and make them an invigorating design element on the sideboard or the desk in the home office. They bring spring-like verve into your home and - as small design objects - discreetly keep things tidy.
